Listening, advocating, and thoughtfully planning for an inclusive, sustainable Westminster.
Listening, advocating, and thoughtfully planning for an inclusive, sustainable Westminster.
I am running for Westminster City Council as a mom, dedicated public servant and planner, and your neighbor. We are all experiencing significant changes in our lives, from transitioning to working, learning, and living more at home, to losing jobs, businesses, housing, and financial stability. Regardless of where we have landed on this spectrum, we must move forward as a community to rebuild toward greater resilience and sustainability.
I believe this regeneration and strengthening of our community should be inclusive of all Westminster residents. Regardless of income, race, or ability, all residents should be able to safely and affordably live, work, run businesses, and enjoy Westminster’s amenities and environment.
Just as important to our community’s vitality is our economic development, ongoing maintenance of public infrastructure and services, and our protection of our natural environment and resources. These elements are all tied to our ability as a community to build and maintain resilience over time.
As a former City employee, and current member of Westminster’s Environmental Advisory Board, I hope to continue to contribute to our community as your City Council member.
Currently, I am a municipal planning manager and I work to ensure our region grows and evolves inclusively, thoughtfully, and sustainably. I have worked in and for cities for 20 years, with a focus on urban planning, city building, and economic and business development. Over the past 10 years, I have worked in Colorado, primarily for the City of Westminster, between 2011 and 2019. These were formative years in our City’s evolution—we were recovering from the Great Recession, experiencing and sharing in significant growth in the region, and coming to terms with our need to strategically and sustainably plan for our future as a growing community.
While at the City, I was responsible for leading our long-range planning efforts, including Westminster’s first Comprehensive Plan to address the relationship between land use, transportation, parks and open space, and public services and infrastructure. I developed the City’s long-range planning program, including the plans for Westminster Station and Downtown Westminster that strategically targeted growth in areas with significant access to transit and transportation. And since 2015, I led the development of the first phase of our new Downtown that includes a mix of affordable and market rate housing, retail, hotel, and office uses as well as the Central Square plaza, new streets, and public garage.
Creating a downtown from scratch requires an understanding of every aspect of city building, from the infrastructure below the ground to the economics and market dynamics for what will rise above. The comprehensive understanding I have of these factors, along with direct knowledge of how the City works from the inside out, best position me for creative, strategic, and implementable solutions for our residents, businesses, and environment.
